A local Vinay Sawardekar told The Goan that water has inundated their compounds as the natural rain water outlet stands blocked in the area. He feared that the rain water may enter the houses if the situation persists, while making a fervent plea to the municipal authorities to open the natural water outlet.
Another resident Prof R S Padiyar blamed a builder for constructing a wall right close to another existing wall, blocking the natural water drainage.
The chairperson said that she has told MMC engineers to use the municipal excavator and dig up a drain as a stop gap arrangement to drain out the water. "The situation is an eye-opener to the people that they should not build their compound walls on drainages and water outlets," she said.
