Even as the Men-in-Uniform have come under the radar for dragging its feet in registering a case of negligence, newly-posted Colva police station in-charge, PI Filomena Costa has said that he has asked the investigating officer to seek all details from the Tourism department and the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) to take investigations into the electrocution of the Rajasthan tourist to the logical conclusion.
PI Costa informed that soon after assuming charge of the office, he had sought details from the police sub-inspector, investigating the electrocution incident.
“I have been told that the police has already written to the Tourism department and the GTDC to furnish details on the beautification works and the contractor engaged by the agency to execute the work,” he said.
PI Costa said the investigating officer will visit the office of the Tourism department and the GTDC to obtain all relevant details concerning the beautification case.
The delay by the Colva police in registering a case against the persons responsible for the electrocution incident had thrown up questions, more so a joint inspection by officials of the Electricity Department had revealed that the electric cable was found damaged and that the tourist must have got electrocuted due to leakage in the current.
Residents of Colva as well as relatives of the deceased tourist demanded that the Goa government pay adequate compensation to the kith and kin of the deceased, who is survived by an aged father, wife and two minor children.
