Licensed tourist guides in the State have appealed to the government to provide them with financial help due to loss of business on account of the Covid pandemic.
In their petition to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Tourism Minister Babu Azgaonkar, the tourist guides registered under the department of tourism have highlighted the lack of business since March 2020 which has affected their livelihood, leaving them without any source of income to survive.
“We, the tourist guides, as the real face of tourism in State, were earning our livelihood since last 20 to 30 years and are now left without any source of income to survive,” the petition states.
The petition has also highlighted how states like Karnataka, Kerala, Odisha and others have come to the aid of tourist guides by extending financial help for their survival.
“We would be very grateful if you could grant financial help for our registered tourist guides in the State,” the petition concludes while seeking a favourable response from the government.
