The three touts who have been arrested in connection with the murder of a tourist, Harsh Dinesh Tanwar (25) of Delhi, have claimed that the murder took place following a dispute over drugs.
Calangute police had arrested Sahil alias Vishal Kumar Bhatnagar a native of Uttarakhand but residing at Calangute, Noor Muhammad Khan of Canca-Parra and Sunil Vishwakarma of Nepal, after it was established that Tanwar had been murdered at Baga beach.
Police had checked CCTV footage of establishments at Baga beach and found out that three persons were at Baga beach in the wee hours of Saturday. The three accused have been remanded to four days in police custody by a Mapusa court.
The accused are reported to have told police that they had gone to the spot to supply drugs to Tanwar and a dispute took place, leading to the attack on Tanwar which resulted in his death.
Calangute police are conducting further investigation.
