PANAJI: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar will preside over a cabinet meeting on Friday at his private residence in Dona Paula, where the proposal to notify the Information Technology Village (park) at Chimbel and exclude its jurisdiction from the Chimbel panchayat is expected to be discussed.
Friday's cabinet meeting, expected to be the last one before the Code of Conduct for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections comes into force, may clear the Chimbel IT Park proposal which envisages declaring it an exclusive township. The State government has engaged Rudrabhishek Enterprises Ltd (REPL), a Delhi-based urban development and infrastructure consultancy firm as consultant for providing design services for the start-up IT township.
After notifying the area as IT-park, the Chimbel village panchayat will have no jurisdiction over the area.
The government is hoping that this IT Park, after several attempts in the past, will provide an ecosystem for fostering IT start-ups in the state.
ITG plans to develop the area of 1.33 lakh square metres in the first phase, where it proposes to have conference rooms, digital library, cafeteria, hostel, retail and multi-use commercial space, pedestrian park, recreational facilities and other associated support facilities and services. Goa was among the first four States in the country to have a start-up policy.

Amidst BJP vs MGP,
Sudin meets Parrikar
PANAJI: PWD Minister and Maharastrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) leader Sudin Dhavlikar on Thursday met Chief Minister Manohar at his private residence in Dona Paula amid the tension between MGP and BJP over contesting the upcoming Assembly by-elections separately.
Dhavlikar, however, did not disclose what transpired at the meeting with Parrikar which was held on the sidelines of a ceremony to unveil plaques for two projects under the PWD being implemented in Taleigao and Shiroda.
The MGP has taken the strong stance of contesting the by-poll in Shiroda and Mandrem arguing that as it opposes the politics of defection, it will field candidates wherever defectors are sponsored by political parties.
Meanwhile TCP Minister Vijay Sardesai has also made a comment on Thursday against the MGP. He has alleged that the MGP has connieved with congress party and is working against BJP in bye-poll elections.
Parrikar, meanwhile, unveiled the plaque for the sewerage scheme for Taleigao and surrounding areas of Panaji city at his residence. He also unveiled the plaque for work on 10 MLD water from Selaulim Water Treatment Plant to Borim and Shiroda villages in South Goa.
Congress MLA Jeniffer Monserratte, Vice Chairman of GSIDC Siddharth Kunkolienkar were also present at the ceremony which was held at the CM's private residence.
