PANAJI: In a significant bonanza, the recent hike of 3 pc in dearness allowance to central government employees will now be applicable to State government employees.
The State government has decided to extend the Central government's hike in DA (from 9 to 12 percent) to its employees as well as to those of government-aided educational institutions.
The hike in DA will be effective from January 1 this year and will be paid to government employees in the salaries for the month of April along with arrears from the month of January, according to an office memorandum issued by Under Secretary (Finance) Sushama Kamat.
