Admitting that people raise hue and cry for want of development in their respective areas, TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai has said the onus lies on elected representatives to shoulder the responsibilities of achieving all-round development of their village.
Sardesai was speaking after laying the foundation stone for the construction of Banastarim Market Complex at Banastarim in Bhoma-Adcolna on Thursday. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 17.79 crore and the project is entrusted to the GSIDC.
Others present on the occasion included Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho, Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude, GSIDC chief and MLA Deepak Pauskar and Bhoma-Adcolna Sarpanch Sunil Jalmi.
“If this goal of shouldering the responsibilities of achieving all-round development is accomplished, then people will not only appreciate the efforts of their representatives but will also extend their support to them as and when it is sought,” said Sardesai.
He assured farmers that their long-pending demand for a bundh would be taken up on priority.
Stressing on the common cadre system, Panchayats Minister Maudin Godinho said the law department has cleared the common cadre file and it would be notified shortly in the official gazette.
“Once it is notified, the Directorate of Panchayats will implement it as and where it is required,” said Godinho.
The panchayat minister further assured the public that the of Banastarim Market Complex would be completed within a year and added that the project would have all facilities for the public in Banastarim and
surrounding areas.
Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude said the upcoming market complex would be constructed on a high-tech concept and said would be a fully green project. He said the project would help local people to boost their marketing products. GSIDC Chairman Deepak Pauskar also spoke on the occasion.
