Tribal Welfare Minister and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar led Canacona BJP karyakartas and others in the traditional practice of catching fish, followed by a feast at Agonda beach on Thursday.
A ‘Paimvoddo’ was cast into the sea, and different varieties of fish caught during the activity were later cooked and enjoyed with rice on the shore. “About 3-4 years ago, we had organised a ‘Rapon Kincho’ at Agonda shore, which was widely appreciated across Goa. Some even suggested that it should become a regular practice,” said Tawadkar.
He said a Fish Mahotsav could be organised in Canacona in the near future along the lines of the Lokotsav and Ran-Bhaji festivals.
“Sometimes, our karyakartas also need a break from politics. Today, we decided to catch fish in the traditional way,” he said.
Those present included former CMC chairperson Simon Rebello, Tiatr Academy chairman Anthony Barbosa, TAG committee members and tiatrists Menino de Bandar and comedian Jesus, Agonda Sarpanch Nilesh Pagi, social activist Estev Rodrigues, SAG treasurer Vinay Tubki, BJP local leaders Kishore Shet and Sanjay Komarpant, students, teachers and BJP karyakartas.
