PONDA

In a bid to curb traffic jams and regulate movement of vehicles, the Ponda Traffic Cell on Monday restricted entry from the Almeida school junction to Warkhande and Khadpabandh.

This traffic system will take place only when the school starts and ends for the day.

The Traffic Cell announced their plans through social media and implemented the new system on Monday. The results were immediate as traffic flow was seen moving smoothly on the first day of the revised traffic system.

The Almeida school has a nursery, primary and secondary school in its campus based in the heart of the city and over 2,000 students study in the school.

With several hundreds of parents/guardians, school buses and private vehicles dropping and picking students, the area gets congested with traffic.

Motorists moving from the city towards Warkhande and towards Khadpabandh from the fire station side were found blocking the main junction.

Under the revised traffic system, motorists going towards Khadpabandh have to take a round at the Dada Vaidya chowk and those proceeding towards Warkhande have to go towards the fire station and then proceed towards Warkhande.
