PANAJI: SP Traffic has issued a traffic advisory ahead of the Independence Day celebrations at the Old Secretariat in Panaji, with road closures and diversions planned on August 14 and 15.
The left-side lane of D B B Marg, between the Bandodkar Statue and Abade Faria Statue, will be closed to vehicular traffic from 11 am on August 14 to facilitate the erection of the Independence Day pandal.
From 8 pm on August 14, D B B Marg will be completely closed in both directions between Ferry Wharf Junction and Bandodkar Statue. The closure will remain in force until the conclusion of the Independence Day function on August 15.
Vehicles entering Panaji via the New Patto Bridge will be diverted left behind the Old Secretariat at Bandodkar Statue and directed towards Joao Castro Road and José Falcão Road/Match Corner.
Traffic exiting Panaji from Ferry Wharf will be diverted towards Police Headquarters and Government Printing Press Junction. Motorists will then be directed towards UCO Bank, Saraswati Mandir Building and Church Square before exiting via Cortin towards the Old Patto Bridge or New Mala Bridge.
The M G Road stretch from Abade Faria Statue to Casa International Junction will also be reserved exclusively for vehicles of persons attending the Independence Day parade.
Motorists have been advised to plan their journeys, avoid restricted routes where possible, and follow traffic signs and instructions issued by traffic personnel.
