Guess the status of the traffic signals at the Belem-Navelim road junction after the commissioning of the western bypass?
Well, the Belem junction will now play a crucial role in regulating the national highway traffic where the western bypass meets the NH66. The traffic signals, however, seemed down and out for reasons best known to the authorities.
In fact, when The Goan called up officials of the PWD, National Highway to shed light on the status of the traffic signals at Belem, a senior official said the matter falls in the domain of the traffic Cell.
The Goan understands that the traffic signals have been lying non-functional for the last several days, creating chaotic traffic situation at the junction. No authority, including the PWD, NH or the traffic police have ensure the revival of the traffic signals till date, more so when the Belem traffic junction has turned accident prone zone for want of proper traffic regulation.
