Admitting that valuers may face difficulties in light of two Regional Plans being followed, Town and Country Panning Minister Vijai Sardessai said his plans to frame a policy on Transfer of Development rights, based on which the new RP 2030 will be framed, would make it easy for valuers.
Sardessai was addressing a two-day bi-annual national seminar on the theme ‘New Frontiers in Valuation', organised by the Goa branch of Institution of Valuers in Margao on October 6 and 7.

The TCP Minister said that such seminars provide opportunity to professionals to upgrade their knowledge keeping in line with the modern developments.
Sardessai admitted that in Goa, valuers may face difficulties in their work in light of two RPs being followed. The minister
announced his intentions to frame a policy on Transfer of Development rights based on which the new RP 2030 will be framed, which would make it easy for valuers.
He also took note of the institution's demand that professionals be appointed by the government to carry out valuations, whenever needed, instead of assigning such work to talathis and other unqualified personnel. He promised to take up the issue with the government.

Three senior valuers, R P Varde, Hemant Sawkar and Shravan Dubhashi were facilitated for their contributions in the field of valuation.
During the seminar, eight papers were presented by renowned experts from different parts of the country.
During the valedictory session on October 7, Rtd Principal District and Sessions Judge Desmond D'Costa was the chief guest and in his address, expressed the importance of valuers as they are considered experts in their field and their opinions form the basis of the decisions.
"Banks decide on loans and mortgages and courts pass judgements based on a valuer's reports," said D'Costa, while stressing that valuers must be persons of integrity and their reports should reflect true opinions.
Earlier, Shravan Dubhashi welcomed the gathering, while Ravindra Palyekar presented the seminar report.
