Teacher booked for assualting student

Calangute Police on Monday booked a teacher from a private primary school in Calangute for allegedly assaulting and mentally harassing a 9-year-old student.
According to police, mother of the victim boy filed a complaint on Monday stating that the accused teacher assaulted his son and mentally harassed him on Saturday. The incident took place during the examination at about 9 am, when the accused teacher allegedly assaulted the student, who is studying in Std 4. The accused mentally harassed him till 12 noon, informed police. Acting on complaint, Police registered offence against accused teacher under Section 323 of IPC and Section 8 of Goa Children's Act.
Police have recorded the statement of the victim boy in the presence of school authorities and later sent him for medical examination.
Calangute Police have also summoned the accused teacher for interrogation.
