The Margao fire brigade rushed to Benaulim and Varca after incidents of tree fall were reported in the two villages on Sunday. Traffic near the Maria hall, Benaulim was disrupted around noon when a huge tree came crashing down on the road.
Even as the fire department began the work of clearing the debris from the site, the traffic cell led by police officer Deu Mangaonkar rushed to the spot to regulate traffic.
The tree was finally cleared from the road by evening, restoring the road for traffic.
Meanwhile, Fire Officer Gill D’Sa informed that the fire personnel rushed to Benaulim and Varca on Sunday to attend to calls of tree fall in these two villages.
He said it took some time for the firemen to clear the debris from the roads since the trees were huge, occupying the roads.
