Traffic along Sanguem, Bhati, Netravali, Kalay and other areas was disrupted after a large tree fell on the main road at Uguem.A fire brigade went to the site and cleared the tree and traffic was later restored along the route.
Due to heavy rains, all rivers in the taluka began to overflow since late Sunday night and people in Sanguem taluka, especially those residing in remote areas, were badly hit after their agriculture and plantations got submerged.
Water was reportedly flowing over the Valshem bridge since Sunday night, but traffic managed to cross the bridge without any incident.Water level at the Selaulim Dam also rose sharply due to overnight rains. At about 6 pm on Monday, water level at Selaulim Dam had risen to 42.58 metres, said officials.
