The driver and some occupants in a truck were injured on Thursday evening when the vehicle rammed into an electricity pole at a slope in New Vaddem, here.
Sources said the driver managed to avert a collision with the other vehicles on the road and the truck struck the electricity pole before coming to a halt.
Outgoing ward councillor Yatin Kamurlekar said the mishap took place at about 3.30 pm.
"Though the accident was dangerous, there was no fatalities and the driver was alert enough to ensure that he did not collide with other vehicles along the slope.”
“The accident damaged the electricity pole and disrupted power supply to the entire area but the police and electricity department arrived quickly to get things sorted. The electricity department has also assured to make temporary arrangements to restore power supply," said Kamurlekar.
Electricity Department Assistant Engineer Sanjeev Mhalshekar said the accident had affected the New Vaddem electricity feeder.
"Our New Vaddem electricity feeder tripped off at around 3.30 pm and we started getting complains that there was no power in the entire New Vaddem area.”
“Since today is the last day of the year, we are doing temporary arrangements to restore power supply in the entire New Vaddem area. We will also erect a new pole in a day or two but till then we are ensuring there will be no power-related issues to the entire area," said Mhalshekar.
