The NGO ‘Goa First’ lodged a complaint against buses along the Vasco-MPT Colony and Vasco-Bogda routes for not plying after 8 pm and overcharging fares.
Speaking to reporters, ‘Goa First’ Convenor Parshuram Sonurlekar said buses along the Vasco-MPT colony and Vasco-Bogda routes had stopped plying after 8 pm and were also overcharging commuters.
“With no buses plying on these routes after 8 pm, people have to walk the distance to reach to their respective destinations or use other expensive modes of transport," said Sonurlekar.
"These buses also overcharge customers by more than 50%. Also, these buses halt at the Vasco Market on Sundays and public holidays for over 30 minutes and as a result, there is a collapse of the entire transport facility during these holidays and festival times.”
Sonurlekar alleged that the bus operators plying on these routes had taken people for granted as most of the low-income people are entirely dependent on this mode of transport.
“The transport department should pay heed to our complaint and take action against the bus operators,” he added.
