the goan I networkrPANAJI rrIn this regard, Roland Martins, co-ordinator, GOACAN, met Nila Mohanan, North Goa Collector. rSpeaking to media persons after the meeting, Martins said, “Channels are disappearing all over Goa because of conflict between MSOs and broadcaster. Consumers across the State are really frustrated due to this.” rHe continued, “In Raia, consumers have been asked to buy second set-top box as the signal was weak. If this continues, tomorrow, someone can tell them to buy third set-top box as well.” rMartins also highlighted issues which have happened in Porvorim pertaining to cable TV transmission. rHe said, “In Porvorim, a MSO called BRDS took over from earlier MSO called FDI Sonali, but consumers weren’t taken into confidence. This is in violation of consumer protection act, which provides that a service provider must inform consumers in case of a change.” rHe continued, “We have requested the collector to ask BRDS to submit a road map within next 15 days on how they are going to restore viewership.” rMartins further said, “It’s a basic rule that a receipt has to be issued to a consumer upon receipt of payment. But it is not happening in some cases. This will result in confrontations between LCOs and consumers. We have requested Mohanan to take up with the information department as to how redressal will be done in these cases.”
