Two acquitted in kidnap case
Goa Children’s Court President Vandana Tendulkar on Thursday acquitted Mohammad Salim and Jyoti Patil from the charges of kidnapping a minor girl in 2008.
Salim, a native of Bihar and currently residing at Corlim and Jyoti, a native of Belgaum and resident of Assagao, were booked under Section 363 read with 34 of IPC and Section 8 (1) of Goa Children's Act, 2003.
In her complaint, the victim's girl mother had stated that on May 10, 2008 at around 7.30 am, she left along with her husband to Mapusa to sell vegetables.
“When I returned to my room at around 9 pm, I noticed that my daughter was not present in the room. So, I asked both my sons as to where she was and they kept quite for some time. Thereafter my elder son told me that my daughter had gone with Jyoti, who stays in the nearby rented room,” the mother had said in her complaint.
Anjuna Police had arrest Salim on December 8, and Jyoti on December 9, 2008. Both were released on bail on December 17, 2008 by the Children’s Court.
