Two arrested in connection with murder of infant

MARGAO
The Cuncolim police has solved the mystery behind the murder of a new born female infant near the Cuncolim Industrial estate.

The police on Saturday arrested two persons, both natives of Jharkhand, in connection with the murder.

Cuncolim police station in charge PI Theron D'Costa informed that the new born female infant was killed by the main accused along with his friend before dumping the body in a canal.

PI D'Costa informed the main accused was friendly to the minor girl of 15 years, who also hails from Jharkhand. Both were staying in adjoining rented rooms outside the Industrial estate.

The girl later became pregnant and in a bid to cover up the delivery, police said the main accused along with his friend suffocated the infant before throwing the body into the canal.

The police had initially booked a  case of murder, but has now invoked the offence of rape against the main accused for having sex with a minor.

Both the accused and relatives of rhe minor girl are working in separate units  at the Cuncolim Industrial estate.

The police is investigating.
