At Shelpem-Sanguem, a worker from Jharkhand was electrocuted while three others suffered serious injuries after coming into contact with live wires during electricity pole replacement work.
According to reports, the incident occurred while workers were replacing an old electricity pole. Manoj Singh from Jharkhand came in contact with live wires and died on the spot. The three injured workers — Saijit Naik, Nageshwar Kumar and Jugal Mehta, all from Jharkhand — were shifted to the Curchorem Health Centre for treatment.
Sanguem Police Inspector Dhitendra Naik and a police team visited the site after receiving information and conducted a panchanama. The body has been sent for an autopsy to ascertain the exact cause of death.
In a separate incident at Billa Cross, Verna, a 30-year-old cleaner from Chhattisgarh died after a live overhead electric wire snapped and fell on a mini tempo late on Saturday night.
The driver and cleaner of the vehicle received an electric shock and jumped out of the tempo. While the driver escaped unhurt, cleaner Ankit came into contact with the live wire and suffered severe burn injuries, resulting in his death on the spot.
