Two landslides reported in Vasco

Two minor landslides and four incidents of trees falling were reported in Vasco, following heavy rains which disrupted normal life in the port town.

Vasco Fire Station incharge Dilip Bicholkar said one landslide took place at Rumdawada at around 11.10 am, while the second landslide was reported at around 12.05 pm at Microstation, Upper Jetty.

“We rushed to both sites and cleared the area and the roads," said Bicholkar.

"Incessant rains coupled with strong winds also led to trees falling in Vaddem, Harbour and two other locations. The first incident was reported at 4 am when a mango tree fell on the road near Mother of Mercy school at Vaddem, followed by a bread fruit tree falling near a residential area near Vaddem lake at 7.45 am.”

“A jungle tree collapsed along the road leading to Harbour at around 7.55 am and finally, a mango tree fell on a high-tension line at Hollant. The fire department immediately rushed to the site and cut all the trees and cleared the roads at all the locations,” he added.
