Two restaurants burgled in Canacona

CANACONA

Burglars broke into two restaurants at Chavadi in Canacona and stole Rs 9,200 in cash from one of them.

According to reports, the burglars gained entry by breaking through the roofs of the establishments. Nitin Kenkre, owner of Mangesh Hotel, reported that Rs 9,200 was stolen from his restaurant, while nothing was taken from Nilesh Hotel.

Kenkre said the burglary could possibly have been prevented had police personnel been deployed during the night shift.

Following the recent major fire incident in Vasco, there are growing demands for police personnel to be deployed on night duty in Canacona as well.

Although police spoke to the restaurant owners regarding the incident, no formal complaint was lodged.

Kenkre reportedly explained that keeping the restaurant closed pending a police investigation could result in the prepared food going to waste.
