After the Legal metrology teams comprising of the inspectors of Salcete, Ponda, Vasco, Sanvordem and Sanguem conducted a search in the two shops at Colva on Friday morning, it came to light that the Chinese-made LED lights were being kept for sale without the mandatory declarations under the Legal Metrology Act such as the manufacturers name, MRP.
This is the third raid conducted by the Legal Metrology, Margao, seizing goods worth Rs 7 lakh.
KHAREBAND: Officials of the Legal Metrology department on Friday raided two stores at Khareband and seized foreign and Indian manufactured cigarettes which were being sold in violation of the prevailing laws.
The value of the goods is pegged at Rs 7,000.
Legal Metrology officials pointed out that while the foreign cigarettes were being sold without the statutory health warning, the Indian cigarettes were kept for sale in violation of the rules.
AQUEM & COLMOROD: Officials of the Legal metrology department continued its ongoing raids against shops selling Chinese-made items at Aquem and Colmorod-Navelim.
At the raid at Aquem, the team seized China made tiffins, toys, baby walkers, kids cupboard, gift items etc from the shop since the owner was selling the items not in accordance with the established norms.
In the second raid, the legal metrology team seized LED decorative lights and Christmas decoration lights, all worth around Rs 2 lakh.
