Under intense pressure, Anjuna Police arrests UP native with drugs

After being in the news for all wrong reasons and coming under intense pressure, Anjuna police on Saturday had something to show by arresting a UP native on charges of illegal possession of narcotic drugs suspected to be ganja worth Rs 6 lakh.

In a raid, the police arrested the accused, Bharat Dev (32), currently residing at Monteirowado, Anjuna, for illegal possession of narcotics drugs suspected to be ganja weighing six kilos worth Rs 6 lakh.

The consignment was illegally hidden in a scooter (GA-03-AJ-7720).

Anjuna police team led by PSI Vidyesh Pilgaonkar along with Shyamsundar Parsekar, Pandurang Naik conducted the raid on Saturday evening at 'T' road junction near Evergreen Bar and Restaurant, Monteirowado in Anjuna.

An offence has been registered against the accused under Sections 20 (b) (ii) (B) of NDPS Act.

Anjuna Police was in news after an alleged underground party in a rented apartment went awry and some local youths were bashed up by a rival group.

Narcotic drugs were flowing at the party which was held right under the nose of the Anjuna Police.

Local MLA Vinod Paliencar had called Anjuna PI Suraj Gawas incompetent and demanded for his replacement.
