Addressing a press conference on Friday in Margao, the Country Co-ordinator of the University of Cumbria, Regina Dias, called on the Goan student community to take advantage of the courses and the scholarships offered by the university to help the students tide over any financial constraints to join this university.
Dias informed that the admission to various courses of this university begin in September and January where course in the field of Law, Social Sciences, Nursing, and various other streams of academics are offered by this university. Explaining the fee structure, Dias said the fee structure for graduate courses is pegged at 9,500 pounds which work out to 7,500 pounds with scholarship. Likewise, the post-graduate course have a fee component of 12,200 pounds which work out to 10,000 pounds with scholarship.
She said the Masters course is of a one year duration as against the two year duration in the Universities in India. The University, which is based in North-West of England, has a faculty of experts in the field of Law, business, nursing, etc which works with students, Dias informed. "The University of Cumbria is a globally accepted University," she remarked, while informing that the law school of this University is ranked the second best in UK while the University has also been awarded the Best Business School award.
The office of this University in Goa is located opposite Saraswat Bank, Margao while the entrance exams for this University are held at a centre in North Goa, she added. Dias also informed that no exams are held to test the students at Cumbria University but students are given case studies instead where they need to come up with solutions. "The students are also given projects, assignments and are assessed accordingly," she informed.
