A 31-year-old Uttar Pradesh native, who works as a waiter in a boutique hotel in Goa, was arrested by Anjuna Police on charges of illegal possession of narcotics drugs suspected to be charas weighing 74.6 grams and valued at Rs 75,000.
Acting on specific information, a team of Anjuna Police led by PSI Akshay Parsekar conducted a narcotic raid early Saturday morning at Siolim near the church football ground and caught Shoaib Ansari residing in the same village.
Ansari was allegedly found in illegal possession of narcotics substance suspected to be charas weighing 74.6 grams, which was concealed in a two-wheeler.
Anjuna Police conducted panchanama and seized the narcotics drug from the accused and booked him under Section 20(b) (ii) (A) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and arrested him.
Police Constables Siddesh Naik, Mahendra Mandrekar, Rajesh Gokharnekar, Krishna Budge and Sarvesh Salgaonkar were also part of the police team which conducted the raid.
PSI Akshay Parsekar is investigating the case under the supervision of Anjuna PI Suraj Gawas.
