Uproar at Rumdamol p’yat after women panch complains of assault by sarpanch

MARGAO

The Rumdamol panchayat witnessed an uproar on Tuesday after an opposition women panch complained against the sarpanch and her panch husband of alleged assault and outraging her modesty.

The sarpanch Mubeena Faniband lodged a counter-complaint against the opposition panch Sofia Bi, alleging that she came to assault her and her panch husband Saimulla.

The incident is believed to have occurred at the panchayat meeting when Sofia questioned the sarpanch for not sending her the intimation for an inspection of a bungalow in her ward.

Saimulla is believed to have maintained that the question of intimating members to attend inspections falls in the domain of the secretary.

Maina Curtorim police station in-charge PI Ravi Desai informed that both sides lodged a complaint and cross-complaint. He said that the police has registered a case against the sarpanch and her husband. He said the police has registered a non-cognizable case against Sofia.

Saimulla rubbished the complaint, terming it as false. He said the video will prove that the complaint is false.
