The issue of long-delayed political reservations for the Goa Scheduled Tribes came back to haunt the government back again.
A delegation of United Tribal Alliance Association (UTAA) called on Jatothu Nayak, Member of National Commission for Scheduled Tribes and submitted major demands of Goa tribes, including political reservations for the Scheduled tribes.
The delegation comprising of Sports Minister Govind Gawde, UTAA Chief Prakash Velip, Durgadas Gawade, Vishwas Gawade called on the ST Commission member and discussed issues plaguing the tribal community.
Foremost amongst the demands raised before the ST Commission member was the contentious issue of Political Reservation for the Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Areas, Forest Rights, Tribal land protection, filling up of backlog vacancies, promotions, support price to agriculture crops, revisions schemes, tuitions fees, tribals sub plan etc.
A total of 15 issues were discussed with Jatothu Nayak affecting the scheduled Tribes from Goa.
