U-turn: Sanguen BJP block

not to resign

CURCHOREM: In a major relief to the BJP, the Sanguem BJP block volunteers from the ST community have withdrawn their decision to leave BJP over the denial of party ticket to former minister Ramesh Tawadkar.

The Sanguem BJP block president Suresh Quepekar said he will continue to work for the party.

It may be recalled that some BJP members from the ST community in Sanguem had demanded the party ticket to Tawadkar and had threatened to resign he was denied the ticket.

When asked what their stand was, Quepekar said they have decided to withdraw their decision to resign from the BJP.

He said he along with many of his friends have been working for BJP for over a decade and it was not easy to leave the party. “We have decided to continue to work for BJP and will support the party in this election,” he added.

Muthalik banned for another 60 days

The North Goa Collector has reimposed a ban on the entry of leader of Ram Sene Pramod Muthalik infamous for his attack on pub goers especially girls in Mangalore, Karnataka, citing his presence could lead to a law and order problem especially in view of the poll.
