VACAD awaits Cabral’s response on inspection of railway tracks

VASCO

The Villager’s Action Committee Against Doubling (VACAD) said it awaited a response from Environment Minister Nilesh Cabral regarding inspection of railway tracks, in connection with the proposed doubling tracking of South Western Railways (SWR).

In a press note, VACAD Chairman Orville Dourado Rodrigues said VACAD members opposed to the track doubling of SWR attended an online webinar debate organised by Rotary Club of Panaji on September 1.

"At this debate, Environment Minister Nilesh Cabral graciously offered to come on the ground to explain and prove how he has reduced the train vibrations and also to mitigate other concerns of the people related to coal issue.”

“In this context, VACAD sent a letter to Cabral on September 7, welcoming the minister’s statement and inviting him to visit and inspect the current railway alignment in Cortalim constituency, thereby experiencing issues faced by residents on both sides of the railway tracks.”

“Accordingly, the VACAD is eagerly awaiting the response from the minister to advise us of his visit at the earliest possible date," said Dourado.
