MARGAO
Government’s move to hold vaccination even on holidays and Sunday in the month of April evoked encouraging response in Margao on Friday, despite being a holiday on account of Good Friday.
Despite being a holiday on account of Good Friday, around 200 persons took a Covid jab at the designated vaccination centre at the TB hospital on Friday. While around 193 persons turned up at the TB hospital to take the vaccine, another 206 persons took the jab from the Margao Urban Health Centre on Friday.
This is the first time that the Covid vaccine has been administered on a holiday as per the government’s latest protocol to conduct vaccinations during holidays and Sundays.
Nodal officer for the Covid vaccination at the TB hospital, Dr Ira Almeida termed as encouraging the response the Covid vaccination held on a holiday.
Dr Ira made a fervent plea to the people to avail the facility made available even on Sundays and holidays in the month of April.
Similar appeal was made by the Margao Urban Health Officer Dr Anju Kharangate, as she requested the people to turn up in large numbers for the vaccination in the month of April.
