Valpoi Congress Party block members gheraoed the sarpanch of Mauxi panchayat regarding the illegal sale of fish in their jurisdiction due to which there is adverse effect on the fish vendors sitting in the Valpoi Municipal fish market in Valpoi town.
Vandana Gawas has been warned that she should take action within two days otherwise the Congress block members have threatened to sit in front of the Panchayat building along with fish vendors and sell fish in that area.
On Friday, Block president Dasharath Mandrekar along with other committee members gheraoed the sarpanch and questioned her as to why the panchayat is delaying action against the illegal fish sale in their jurisdiction. This place is located on the limits of Valpoi Municipal Council jurisdiction. This has resulted in losses for the fish vendors in the VMC market at Valpoi.
They also submitted a petition to the Panchayat demanding halt to such illegal activity within two days threatening to sit in front of the panchayat building and sell fish.
Gawas assured the delegation that she will take action against the illegal activity.
Meanwhile, speaking to a reporter, block president Mandrekar said that the block committee will not remain silent till the issue is resolved. VMC has also been warned against this illegal activity saying the illegal sale of fish within the jurisdiction of Mauxi panchayat must stop immediately.
