Valpoi police have seized various machines involved in illegal laterite mining at Melaulim, Sattari.
According to SDPO Bicholim, Jivba Dalvi, a raid was carried out on Sunday in the hilly jungle area of Shel-Melaulim, Sattari. During the operation, police seized machinery including five power tillers, four horizontal laterite stone cutting machines, and two generators, with an estimated total value of Rs. 20,00,000.
The raid was successfully led by a team consisting of LPSI Sanisha D. Naik, PSI Allaudin Khan, PC Siddesh Gawas, and PC Ulhas Gawas, all from Valpoi Police Station.
Following the raid, an FIR was filed under Section 303(2) of the BNS and Section 3 of The Goa Daman & Diu Minor Mineral (Concession) Rules, 1985, against unknown individuals, including the owners of the machinery and the land.
The investigation is ongoing, with LPSI Sanisha Naik working under the supervision of PI Dinesh Gadekar of Valpoi Police Station, SDPO Bicholim Jivba Dalvi, and the overall supervision of SP (North) Akshat Kaushal, IPS.
