Vande Bharat and Chenab Bridge have become star attractions at the ongoing World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, drawing crowds and praise from Japanese visitors for India’s journey of modernisation and technological progress.

The World Expo 2025 opened on April 13 at Yumeshima, an artificial island on Osaka’s waterfront, and will continue until October 13, welcoming visitors from around the world. Among the many international exhibits, the Indian Pavilion, especially the section on Indian Railways, has drawn much attention.

On display are the Chenab Bridge, the world’s highest railway bridge across the Chenab River in Jammu and Kashmir; the Anji Khad Bridge, India’s first cable-stayed rail bridge in the Himalayas; the Vande Bharat Express trains, known for their speed and comfort; and new electric locomotives, showing India’s push for sustainable transport.

Many Japanese visitors gathered at the Indian Railways exhibit to hear about the growth of one of the world’s largest rail networks and its transformation over the years. They praised the scale of the projects and India’s aim to build modern infrastructure while caring for the environment.

The theme of World Expo 2025, “Designing Future Society for Our Lives”, with its sub-themes of Saving Lives, Empowering Lives and Connecting Lives, aligns with Indian Railways’ vision for safe, inclusive and sustainable transport. Using interactive sessions and digital displays, Indian Railways is engaging global visitors, showing its image as a modern, innovative and eco-friendly transport leader.
