Varca Sarpanch Reginaldo Rodrigues, who is facing a no-confidence motion, has said that he had always ensured that the members of the panchayat were taken into confidence before taking any decisions.
Referring to the allegation made by the six signatories that he was not taking the members into confidence, Reginaldo said that every application received from the villagers was being placed before the meetings for a decision.
“It was only after the decision was confirmed at the subsequent meetings that the application was forwarded to the secretary for implementation and execution,” he said.
He questioned: “How can the signatories claim that I was not taking them into confidence when the applications and correspondence were placed before the local body?”
Saying he is not a person who will bow down to any pressure from any person or party, Reginaldo said the allegations levelled against him are all baseless.
Six members of the village panchayat of Varca have moved a no-confidence motion against Sarpanch Reginaldo Rodrigues and Deputy Sarpanch Vincentina Fernandes earlier this week.
In the notice, the six signatories to the motion, Crosly Charton Jose Lourenco, Rosario Leao Cardozo, Shalini Pereira, Tercy D’Costa, Francisco Fernandes and Romeu Pereira have said the Sarpanch and the Deputy Sarpanch were not taking the members into confidence.
The signatories further said that both were not taking up any development work in the village.
