As part of the Sewa Pakhwada, the Vasco BJP Mandal organised a Tuberculosis (TB) patient adoption programme at the Vasco MLA Krishna Salkars office on Wednesday evening and adopted 35 TB patients.
Vasco BJP Mandal members along with Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar, Mandal President Deepak Naik, BJP Party President Sadanand Tanavade, former Fatorda MLA Damu Naik and others handed over items to doctors, sponsored by donors during the TB Patients Adoption programme.
Speaking to media, BJP State President Sadanand Tanavade said the programme was a part of various events to commemorate the birthday of PM Narendra Modi.
“This programme of TB Patients Adoption will go on for the next six months and donors will take care of the expense to offer nutritional food to these TB patients. The special part of the programme is that donors do not know who the TB patients are and vice-versa and this is an All-India level programme as a part of PM Narendra Modi’s dream to eradicate TB by 2025.”
“This is only possible with the support of doctors, but we also need active public involvement and we have been requested that all Karyakartas adopt at least one TB patient and help them,” said Tanavade.
Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar said the BJP had conducted beach cleanliness drives, tree plantation drives and now, the Vasco BJP had adopted 35 of the 65-odd TB patients in Vasco.
“We will adopt the remaining patients in days to come and we will soon eradicate TB from India,” said Salkar.
