Vasco legislator, councillor put footbridge in place
After the collapse of a culvert connecting Dhaktalem and Sainagar-Fakirgalli, Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida and councillor of Ward 19 of Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) Fredrick Henriques constructed a footbridge to ease the inconvenience caused to the residents.

The residents thanked MLA Almeida and councillor Henriques for putting in place the alternate arrangement. There are three culverts along the road between Varunpuri and Dhaktalem. One culvert connecting Dhaktalem and Fakirgalli collapsed on July 17. Two school children and a woman who were walking on the culvert fell in the nullah and sustained minor injuries. Councillor Henriques had assured the residents of making an alternate arrangement within a week. Accordingly, a temporary footbridge was built and the water pipeline was also repaired. In the absence of culvert, the students were forced to walk along longer route from Varunapuri to Mangor Hill to attend school.
