VASCO
A 35-year-old man from New Vaddem in Vasco has been arrested on Saturday on charges of raping his minor relative from Vasco.
Doctors at the Chicalim Sub District Hospital had notified Vasco police that a minor girl was pregnant and Vasco police began an investigation.
Police then realised that a close relative had sexually assaulted the victim, leading to her pregnancy.
Police then questioned the girl and her mother, before registering an offence against the accused under Section 376 IPC, Section 8 of Goa Children’s Act and Sections 4, 8 and 12 of POCSO Act.
After the registration of the case, police began searching for the accused with the help of technical assistance.
“The accused was trying to evade his arrest, but we managed to arrest the accused on Saturday from New Vaddem, and we are carrying out further investigation," said Vasco PI Kapil Nayak.
