Vasco MLA pays surprise visit to Mamlatdar’s office after people complain of pending works

VASCO

Vasco MLA Krishna (Daji) Salkar on Tuesday paid a surprise visit to the Mamlatdar’s office after many people began complaining that files had been pending and certificates had not been issued as there was no internet connection in the office for over 14 days.

The sudden visit of Salkar took the staff by surprise, but Salkar insisted that he had arrived to hear the grievances at a personal level and to work out a solution so that people do not have to face inconveniences.

While the staff said the internet connection was restored temporarily, they also explained the various difficulties they have had to face after being shifted to Ravindra Bhavan with renovation being carried out in the Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) building.

“The deputy collector said there was some strike which had led to the internet disconnection. As of now, the strike is over and the internet connection has been restored. We have to look for a permanent solution as there will be power cuts during monsoons leading to internet issues again, and we cannot inconvenience people all the time.”

The Vasco MLA asked the staff if they can issue certificates manually in case of an emergency and they agreed to speak with their higher-ups in the matter.

"The Mamlatdar’s office has been shifted to Ravindra Bhavan temporarily and they are placed in the art gallery. This place has no exhaust, and the staff have to work from morning to evening in a land-locked cubicle under heat and sweat. This environment is not very conducive for this office,” said Salkar

“The internet disconnection with power cuts makes it worse for them, and they don't have any other arrangements like an inverter as well," said Salkar, while assuring to put forth the issues before the government.

He informed that many government offices were housed in the MMC building, but had to be shifted after the renovation works.

“These offices will shift after the renovation works are completed," said Salkar.
