Vasco Railway Police arrested a man on charges of possessing drugs at the end of Platform 1 of Vasco Railway station on Thursday.
According to sources, Vasco Railway Police received a tip that a person in the pantry section with a catering contractor of The Goa Express was arriving with drugs to be delivered to prospective customers at Vasco Railway station.
A trap was laid and Mohammed Gulzar Sheikh (33) was arrested with 60 gms of ganja worth Rs 10,000 in his possession.
"The accused is a native of Muzaffarpur-Bihar and working with a temporary catering contractor since the last 3 months on different routes. This was his second trip to Vasco. He would get an 8% commission selling water to passengers along the route. Earlier, he worked in Saudi Arabia for five years.”
“During interrogation he disclosed that the drug was purchased for Rs 2,000 near the railway station in Delhi, but did not know details of the seller. The accused has been arrested under the NDPS Act and PSI Yeshwant Raiker is conducting further investigations.
