Vaz firm on contesting polls
CORTALIM: Sending a clear message that he means business and would not succumb to any pressure, Cortalim ZP member Antonio Vaz told his supporerts that his intention to contest Assembly polls was final.
“I will not back out, no matter what pressure is exerted on me and you can take my word on this,” said Vaz, at his supporter's meeting in Cortalim and accused his rivals of spreading false rumours.
The meeting which witnessed a good turnout saw many people, especially from Cortalim and Sancoale, turning out at the meeting to express their support to Vaz.
The speakers recalled the grass root works especially in co-operataive, farming, sports and social sector carried out by Vaz over the years and his gradual rise in politics from panch to sarpanch and now ZP member representing Cortalim constituency.
Former BJP Block president Sanju Naik, Cortalim-Quelossim Sarpanch Hillario Figueiredo, Cansaulim deputy sarpanch Jose Maria Furtado, Eddy Fernandes and Roquezinho D'Souza also spoke at the meet.
