Vedanta claims to have had several discussions to resolve matter

Insisting that it had not left any stone unturned to resolve the issue, Vedanta on Tuesday claimed to have had several rounds of discussions with the union to resolve the matter amicably and in a peaceful manner.

BICHOLIM:

In a press note, the Vedanta Company stated that the workers of the Bicholim mine of Vedanta Sesa Goa Iron Ore protested and staged a demonstration in front of the mines on Tuesday.
“Over 300 workers took part in the protest and abstained from work. The workers resorted to stopping all operations at the mine and also disrupted activity at the Sarmanas jetty.”
“Work at the Bicholim mine has been hit for the past two to three weeks. The company management believes in internal leadership of the workmen which is prevailing at its other units. However, the workers are averse to this line of thought of the management. Workers have been indulging in unauthorised absenteeism and indiscipline pressing their demand. The so-called proclaimed leader of the union has been instigating the workers against the management.”
“At Vedanta Sesa Goa Iron Ore, the company not only recognises but also respects the right of the workmen to form a union. Everyone is receiving a decent wage with benefits, there is no reason to go on an agitation,” the press note added.
