MAPUSA
The cup of woes of the mother, who allegedly kidnapped her minor son, appears to be overflowing.
On Wednesday, a Mapusa court remanded Vena Patkar, the mother of the minor son to judicial custody in a private criminal case.
Vena Patkar had moved a bail application before the JMFC court, Mapusa in a private criminal plea filed by her estranged husband some time back.
The court rejected her bail and sent her to judicial custody at Sada, Vasco.
Meanwhile, Patkar has moved for anticipatory bail in the minor son’s kidnapping case, which will come up before the Children’s court on Thursday in the afternoon.
It may be recalled that Mapusa Police had registered an offence on June 4 against the mother, Patkar and four others for kidnapping her six-year-old son from her estranged husband’s house in Ganeshpuri, Mapusa.
According to the complaint, Patkar had abducted the boy from her husband’s house along with four unknown persons.
Police had booked the mother and four others for criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, wrongful restraint, trespass and unlawful assembly under various sections of the IPC. Section 8 of Goa Children’s Act has also been slapped against the abductors.
Police have already arrested the other four accused involved in the case, who are now in police custody.
Vasu Desai (24) and Stephen Cardozo (22), both from Vasco, were arrested late Monday night, Mapusa Police informed. The vehicle (GA-08-M-5301) used to commit the offence was also attached, police said.
On Monday, a Mapusa court had remanded the two alleged kidnappers, who were arrested earlier, to five days police custody. It may be recalled that the mother of the child had made a similar but unsuccessful attempt in March last year to kidnap the child after school hours in Khorlim.
