Venzy declares ban on parking of ‘outside’ taxis in Benaulim

MARGAO
Benaulim MLA Venzy Viegas has announced that no app-based taxi aggregators, including Goa Miles, will be allowed to park in the villages of Benaulim constituency to pick up guests from the hotels dotting the coastline.

Addressing the tourist taxi operators from both North and South Goa outside the Colva police station late Friday night, Venzy said no outside taxis will be allowed to pick up customers from the hotels located in the Benaulim constituency.

“Enough is enough. This is our final decision. We will go all out to protect the interest of the local tourist taxi operators plying from outside the hotels in Benaulim constituency,” he said.

Cautioning the government to immediately intervene and avert a law and order problem over the taxi issue, the Benaulim MLA said the government should resolve the issue by notifying taxi stands for the local tourist taxi operators outside the hotels.

Cavelossim Sarpanch Dixon Vaz promised the full support of the Sarpanchas of Cavelossim, Varca and Benaulim to the tourist taxi operators in their battle to stop outside taxis from picking up customers from hotels and snatching their livelihoods.
