A dispute between two groups escalated into violence late Saturday night near the Dominos shop in Siolim, leaving one individual severely injured after being attacked with a knife.
Anjuna Police have taken swift action, arresting one of the four accused involved in the incident, which also included a minor.
The accused have been identified as Vishwadeep Naik, Vignesh Chodankar, Prajyot Salgaonkar, and Tukaram Dabholkar. Vishwadeep Naik has been apprehended by the police, while efforts are underway to locate and detain the other suspects.
According to police reports, the altercation ensued when the accused, traveling in a Thar jeep, confronted Sahil Gadekar from Nagzar, Pernem, and his friend. In the heat of the argument, one of the accused allegedly attacked Gadekar with a small knife, inflicting serious injuries to his stomach and chest.
The victim was rushed to Goa Medical College in Bambolim for treatment, where he is reported to be stable.
In addition to the knife attack, the accused also assaulted the victim’s friend with fists and kicks, and vandalised the victim’s motorcycle by smashing it with a stone, as confirmed by police officials.
Anjuna Police have registered a case under sections 326, 323, and 427 read with section 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), indicating charges related to grievous hurt, voluntarily causing hurt, and mischief causing damage to property, among others.
The investigation into the incident is being closely monitored by Anjuna Police.
