A Goa Forward delegation led by their president Vijai Sardesai and vice-president Durgadas Kamat left for the national capital on Saturday.

Speaking to reporters at Dabolim airport before his departure, Sardesai said that the visit to Delhi was to seek a legal course in the Mhadei issue. He added that every effort will be taken to ensure that the diversion of water in the Mhadei river is stopped. “One thing is very clear -- that there can be no compromise in the Mhadei issue. What we did on Friday by blocking the highway was to create an awareness amongst Goans regarding this issue. I have said it on earlier and I am saying it now -- I am feeling sorry for all the people who were inconvenienced because of our road blocks, but one should realise that there is no gain without pain. Awareness was important to save Goa.”

“We are going to Delhi and there should be no confusion whatsoever on some fixing with any party as such. We are going to Delhi to fight for justice and more importantly to seek a legal course and decide on our future step,” added Sardesai.

“If Sawant has said that Mhadei had more respect than his mother, then he must take this issue seriously. We don’t fear any cases registered against us. We have moved forward on this issue and there is no backtracking for any fear. Tomorrow entire Goa will come on the roads and there will be a mass Jail Bharo. What will the government do then? This is the time to come out against the diversion,” said Sardesai.

‘Important to know who is blessing Canacona Hydrocarbon’

VASCO: Goa Forward president Vijai Sardessai on Saturday said that the Goa government must probe and find out who is the politician standing behind recycling company Canacona Hydrocarbon operating in the Mormugao Port Trust.

“Many social activists from Mormugao have approached me and given me some details. The activists maintained that there is a recycling company called Canacona Hydrocarbon which is operating in the port and has great political blessings. It is learnt that the Goa government is also reeling behind this company and trying to bend norms so that this company can take maximum contracts in Goa,” said Sardesai.

“It is believed that this Canacona Hydrocarbon has had a major role to play in this Naptha ship incident and was the company that was supposed to take the Naptha from the ship as contaminated sludge,” said Sardesai.
