Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat and Goa Forward Chief Vijai Sardesai took potshots at the BJP-led government headed by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for promoting coal when green energy is the future.
Addressing a gathering after launching Benling electric scooters at DSP Electrics at the Raghunath City Centre, Aquem, on Friday, Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat said that health is wealth, but the Goa government is out to make Goa a coal hub.
“Both petrol and diesel vehicles add to pollution, but these electric vehicles will do away with pollution,” Kamat said, adding “on one hand they say health is wealth, but on the other hand promote Goa as a coal hub”.
Goa Forward Chief Vijai Sardesai targeted the Goa government by saying the people of the state are opposed to coal because they know that coal is polluting and only green energy is the future.
“We don’t want coal which is causing health problems. On the other hand, green energy is the future and this has to be taken forward,” he added.
Both Kamat and Sardesai complimented the promoters of the Benling electric scooters venture saying they have set up the business when the economy is down during the pandemic.
The promoters informed that DSP Electrics has sold around 130-odd electric scooters since the venture was started just a couple of months ago. The promoters have also promised after-sales service, even right at the doorsteps of the customers.
