MARGAO
Charging Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for betraying the people of Goa on coal and diversion of Mhadei river waters, Goa Forward chief Vijai Sardesai on Tuesday said the time has come to awaken the Chief Minister by banging utensils and lighting lamps and candles a la Covid pandemic fashion.
He further warned the government that the people of Goa would chalk out the future course of action if the banging of utensils and lighting of lamps and candles fails to awaken the Chief Minister and mete out justice for the people of Goa.
“The Chief Minister has betrayed the people of Goa on two counts. One, he had promised to reduce coal handling at the MPT. Instead, coal handling will now double at the MPT, leaving the people of Goa, including South Goa, open to the risk of coal pollution and health hazard such as cancer. On Mhadei, the Chief Minister has again betrayed the people as evident by the statement made by the Home Minister Amit Shah at Belagavi,” he said.
He added: “The time has now come to awaken the Chief Minister and come out clean on both Mhadei and coal. The Chief Minister has feigned ignorance on the claim made by the Union Home Minster. One way to awaken Pramod Sawant is to adopt the Covid pandemic style by banging utensils and lighting lamps and candles by the people of Goa. If this protest does not work, then people will give a befitting answer.”
