With the unsafe Hospicio annexe building posing danger to visitors and hospital staff alike after Friday’s incident, the government has roped in the Goa State Infrastructure Development
Corporation (GSIDC) to put all temporary measures in place, with Heath Minister Vishwajit Rane  reassuring that things will start moving in the right direction within 10-day time.
The GSIDC has been told to carrying out netting and cordoning of the annexe building to ensure that debris or any material does not come crashing on the ground.
The District Collector, South Swapnil Naik was also told by the Health Minister to get the dialysis unit housed on the second floor of the building evicted immediately. The Collector was also told to take police protection to shift the dialysis centre and the water tanks housed on the third floor of the building.
Admitting that three-storied annexe building needs urgent attention, the health Minister told the media after Sunday morning inspection with Margao MLA Digambar Kamat, Hospicio Medical Superintendent, Dr Aira Almeida, Health Director Sanjeev Dalvi, GSIDC and PWD officials, that things will fall in place soon.
“We have given 10 days time to GSIDC to being work on the building. The GSIDC has been asked to shoulder responsibility of putting in place temporary measures to ensure that debris from the building does not come down and result in any casualty. Netting and cordoning of the building will be done to ensure that no objects fall on the ground,” Rane said.
Saying that the dialysis unit has to be vacated immediately since it is unsafe to run the unit in the  building, the Heath Minister said he has told the collector to act immediately since previous
attempts by the Hospicio authorities to get the unit evicted had come to naught.
“I have personally called up the district collector and impressed upon him to get the dialysis unit shifted immediately under the powers of safety concerns,” Rane said.
During inspection of the annexe building, Rane observed that one of the columns may come down any time unless repaired and plastered immediately.
